out of curiosity he removed the ant hill and he found a swami in deep samadhi state. accidentally his axe fell over the ant hill and he saw his axe is stained with blood. after around 300 years, a woodcutter was cutting the shrubs which were growing over the ant hill. a huge ant hill grew around the body of shri narasimha saraswati.
he stayed in samadhi state for about 300 years. according to ‘shree gurucharitra’ book, shri narasimha saraswati entered into samadhi in kardalivana in 1458. Lord dattatreya second incarnation is shri narasimha saraswati whose life and teachings is mentioned in the holy book ‘ shree gurucharitra‘. most of the famous religious places related with lord dattatreya lies in these four states like gangapur dattatreya temple in karnataka, narsobawadi in maharashtra, mahurgarh (also a shakti peeth temple) in maharashtra and girnar (main place of lord dattatreya) in gujarat. Swami samarth maharaj also known as sri samarth maharaj is the third incarnation of lord dattatreya. lord dattatreya is considered as the first guru and also the incarnation of three gods – brahma, vishnu and mahesh. lord dattatreya is very much worshipped in maharashtra, gujarat, karnataka and andhra pradesh. little search in google told me that he is equally popular in andhra pradesh and karnataka. i understood that he is one of the most popular saint in maharashtra. i was attracted towards the photo but i let it go.Īfter few years, when i moved to maharashtra, i often saw samarth maharaj photos in many shops. looked like a very old and ferocious soul. the venue had a big photo of samarth maharaj.Īt first look the person in the photo, appeared to be very ancient or from another planet.
I first came across swami samarth maharaj while attending meditation camp in outskirts of mumbai.
